INNOVATE LAKE ERIE WATER DATA AND ENGINEERING HACKATHON FEBRUARY 23RD - MAY 3RD 2017

MENTOR

Partnering with the Erie Hack is not limited to financial support. In fact, the majority of our partners seek to have a more direct role in facilitating the development of competing teams’ projects. These organizations send experts from a variety of fields (conservation, biomimicry, environmental engineering, web development, agriculture, industry and many more) to work with teams at Hacking Days. By mentoring teams, these experts both enhance the resulting projects and steer the projects towards impact in their particular space of interest. Often mentor-mentee relationships will become user-designer relationships with the team building a tool specifically to advance the mentor’s work. This type of relationship helps ensure a higher quality project with greater potential for long-term sustainability and impact.

The time commitment asked of potential mentors is simple: “Participate as much or as little as makes sense for you.” If you are interested in coming to every Hacking Day in your closest Erie Hack city and a few others, working with many teams and making yourself available outside of work hours to help them make their project the best it can be, more power to you. If you’d rather come to one hacking day and work with a single team to help them get their idea off the ground, that’s great too.

If you are interested in mentoring please fill out this form and reach out to your local Erie Hack team through the Cities page or contact Cleveland Water Alliance at ErieHack@Clewa.org.
