Challenge Connect Communities to the Value of Water, Mitigate Nutrient Loading and Its Environmental Impacts

Areas of Expertise

Skills

The team creator has a background in electro-optics (EO) and desires to explore the feasibility of developing EO solutions (bio-ablation & interruption) to the algae blooming problems not only in western Lake Erie but also in other parts of the world where such blooms manifest. Furthermore, he would like to look into air capture methodology for drawing CO2 directly out of the atmosphere and remaking it as an fertilizer for profitable sale to commercial agriculture customers such as farms and greenhouses. This process would contribute towards solution of the problem of CO2 overabundance and displacement of phosphate based fertilizers that serve as nutrient for the algae blooms. Perhaps negative emissions can be achieved. This idea -- as currently envisaged -- does not involve electro-optics. Finally, there is the grand idea in support of connecting communities to the value of water by the establishment -- over the long term -- of transportation and entertainment hubs, nodes or points along the shores of Lake Erie on peninsulas, man-made islands and perhaps large piers where people would gather for fun and travel via robust digital amusements, dining, artistic performances, etc. and autonomous air- and/or watercraft, respectively. EO would be involved. The winter season could be mitigated with indoor venues and technological approaches towards holodecks that could come about over time with digital computing, perhaps augmented by quantum. What to do with ideas? Change the world!
